POOHS Attend Festivals

Members of the Pride of Olney High School Band have recently attended invitational marching festivals in Aubrey and Mineral Wells. Critique comments and awards were also made. Olney received awards for “Best Music” and “Best in Class” in the A/AA Band category and was also recognized for “Best Drum Majors” and “Overall General Effect” at the Aubrey Marching Classic on October 7 at Aubrey High School. Judges for the festival included Bryan Ferrell (music), retired band director from Pottsboro High School and Don Theode (music), retired Director of Bands from Clifton.  Chris Coltman, Percussion Instructor at Allen ISD was the percussion judge. Other judges included Bob Royall (marching), Royall Marching Design, Frisco, Bob Vetter (marching), retired Director of Bands from Robinson ISD, and Steve Hart (general effect), Director of Bands, Hill College – Hillsboro. The Olney High School Band performed at the Mineral Wells Marching Festival on Saturday, October 14 in Ram Stadium. Olney was awarded a Division II plaque for their show performance.  Judges were Jim Alexander (retired) from Kennedale, Harry Blake (retired) from Arlington, and Stacy Dunn of Fort Worth. The Olney High School Band will perform at the UIL Region 7 Marching Contest on Saturday, October 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.  Admission charge is $5.00 for adults.
