Bridgeport Powerlifting Results

This past weekend the Olney Cubs Girl’s and Boy’s Powerlifting Team traveled to Bridgeport, TX to compete in the Bridgeport High School Invitational Powerlifting Meet.  La’Anna G. and Christine H. both competed for the girl’s team.  La’Anna placed third in her weight class with a total of 650 lbs, her best performance this season.  Going into her last deadlift attempt, Hiatt needed to pull 205 . . .

Students Named to All State, Area Band

Hunter S., a junior and member of the Olney High School Band, has been selected as a member of the 2017 ATSSB All-State Band.   He was selected first chair in Area B auditions Saturday at Argyle High School. Liming Performs At Region Jazz Band

Michael L., sophomore trombonist from Olney High School, attended the ATSSB Region 2 Jazz Clinic and Concert on Friday and Saturday at Tarleton State University. Mr. Greg Ball, Assistant Professor and Director of Jazz Studies at Tarleton, was the clinician and conductor for the group. Fort Worth Scholarship Winner

Yesterday Race R. competed in the Fort Worth Ag Mechanics Show with his project, a gate for the new CATE facility. Race and the gate placed 3rd in the Entry Gate class. Race also competed in Fort Worth's Texas MADE scholarship contest meant specifically for Ag mechanics exhibitors. The contest consisted of a written test and verbal presentation. Race placed 5th in the contest and won a $6,000 scholarship
