Corona Update 14
Updates and Information from Olney ISD
July 6, 2020
It is evident that this virus is now cycling out of metropolitan areas to rural communities. It remains vitally important that our parents and community continue to be regularly updated with the steps our school district is taking prior to the start of our next school year.
Our next step, as a result of the exacerbation of the virus in our community and county, will be to generally follow mask guidelines. Beginning July 6, 2020 masks will be worn by OISD employees when interacting with the public. General distancing recommendations will be followed to the greatest extent possible and employees will wear a mask when the 6-foot distancing recommendations cannot be met. Contractors will wear masks. The public will be required to wear a mask when entering OISD buildings. We are not fearful but respectful of this virus, we will not make light of our current health crisis nor will we make the problem worse, and I know Who is in charge. We will continue to make every effort to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every student, every staff member and the community.
It is also important that district protocol is followed if an employee is exposed to or contracts the virus. Administrative directives require that the employee contact their health care provider or county health officials for recommendations prior to a return to work. Medical professionals must guide the decision making process and our district will follow their advice.
In regards to the 2020-2021 school year, there is ongoing development of operating procedures. We have a survey posted on social media pages and the OISD website for parents. We sincerely ask that you take the time to provide us with this most important feedback as we plan.
