Updates and Information from Olney ISD

July 8, 2020

 

Greetings as we continue to address the problems associated with the coronavirus. Information from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) is coming at us quickly and it will take some time to work through. With this update is a public health planning document from TEA. Over the next several days we will address each item as we work on our local guidelines. Mrs. Norris, our school nurse, is leading this process We will seek input from multiple sources and have our School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC) review the document for additional input. As well, we will be in contact with local and area clinics to keep communication lines opened and to be resources for each other.

 

Our surveys will end next week providing us with more much needed feedback. I do know that we will have administrative staff discussions early next week to reconsider our school start date. If we believe a later start date would be best practice for us, I will ask our Board of Trustees to consider a change to our 2020-2021 school calendar. Please continue to monitor our social media and website for updates. We are working on our online instructional model and it is important to note that this will be very different from the temporary measures we took to complete the 2019-2020 school year.
