Corna Update 18
October 10, 2020
We continue to address safety and operational issues associated with the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in our school and community. New information comes daily, hourly, and even minute by minute. The virus impacts every aspect of our operations including our daycare. At this time, we have 6 staff members and 4 students with the virus. We also have 15 employees and approximately 35 students in quarantine. These are the numbers taken into consideration when making closure decisions along with the problems a school closure can cause for parents and the community.
Currently our campus and facilities are closed through Monday, October 12, 2020. I am extending this through Tuesday, October 13, 2020. All district operations, instructional and extracurricular, will resume Wednesday, October 14, 2020. We will have many staff members and students returning on Wednesday and others returning within the following days.
Please keep the district updated on any developments that may impact our instructional program and student activities. There is a ripple effect that can impact school operation and the sooner we know the better decisions we can make. We do have confidentiality to maintain but it remains critical that information be shared appropriately with the school district, our health care providers, the city, and our entire community.
I also urge all of us to take each opportunity available to stay home and distance. At this time, distancing is the only effective defense we have to curb the spread of the virus.
