The Library and COVID-19
Olney Community Library is open but something is missing….YOU!
Our full staff is back at the library and we are excited to be open with full hours beginning August 3 – Monday through Friday - 9 am to 6:30 pm.
We are taking all the precautions we have been asked to take by the Governor, Olney ISD and the Texas State Library and Archives. For now, masks are required to enter the library and they must be worn throughout your stay in the building…unless you are here to vote. There are hand sanitizing stations inside both foyers before entering the main library, along with several bottles of sanitizer sitting around inside. Lines are marked at 6 ft intervals at the circulation desk and we have installed plexiglass along the countertops. Our staff is wearing masks when out from behind the glass and in the library. We are quarantining books, audio books and DVDs for 72 hours before they are cleaned and re-shelved. Computers and computer stations are being cleaned when every patron leaves after using the computers. Doors and door handles are cleaned on a regular basis.
Meeting room availability is limited and no public restrooms are available at this time.
We continue to offer books, ebooks, audio books on CD, digital audio books, digital magazines, DVDs, computer stations, printing, copying, faxes and notary services. We added curbside checkouts in May and will continue that service for anyone that requests it. Please call the library for information on that service.
There are special events coming up so please go “like” our Facebook page – Olney Community Library and Arts Center – to keep up to date on the happenings at the library. Planned events for the next couple of months are Texoma Gives FB auction on September 10 and the Library’s annual Photo Contest - a few months late - will be held in a different way this year. You’ll definitely want to be connected to our Facebook page for these two events. Also, you never know when the Library will be giving away something – book, gift card, etc. just for commenting and sharing!
The staff and I are proud to be a part of Olney Community Library and Olney ISD. We look forward to serving you in the very near future! Come see us!
