Dear Olney ISD Community,

|
|
Welcome to the latest edition of the Olney ISD newsletter! This month, we are celebrating the hard work and achievements of our students and staff across the district. The Pride of Olney Marching Band impressed at the Area Marching Contest, and the Lady Cubs volleyball team made the playoffs with determination and skill. We’re also excited about the PTO Book Fair at the Olney ISD Library, offering a great opportunity for students and families to explore new books and resources.
Looking ahead, there are plenty of chances to show your school spirit, with upcoming football and basketball games on the schedule. We also have exciting events for our families, including Parent Family Engagement opportunities with the Mango Kickoff event at the library, where we will highlight new language learning software and Mango app.
We are proud of the achievements happening throughout our district and look forward to continuing to work together to support our students and community. Enjoy the newsletter, and be sure to mark your calendars for these exciting events!

Pride of Olney Marching Band Shines at Area Contest

The Pride of Olney Marching Band had an impressive showing at the Area Marching Contest held on November 2 in Mineral Wells. After advancing from the Region Marching Contest on October 19, the band took the field with confidence and determination.
Performing in the early afternoon preliminaries, the band wowed the judges and made it to the evening finals, where they competed against some of the best bands in the area. After a second stellar performance that evening, the Pride of Olney earned 5th place in the Area Marching Finals—an incredible achievement for the band and a testament to their hard work and talent.
The band's success at the Area Contest highlights their commitment to excellence and the dedication of their directors and students. Directors for the band are Dr. Rodney Bennett, Mrs. Marilyn Bennett and Mike Shelton, assisted by Noah Seigler and Jaden Briscoe.
Congratulations to the Pride of Olney Marching Band on this remarkable accomplishment!

Junior High Prepares for OAP Competition
|
Written by Lauren Sullivan, OAP Director
The fall production of Olney Junior High One Act Play "All I Really Need to Know, I Learned From Being in a Bad Play" by Werner Trieschmann will be competing on November 20. This play about auditioning for and being cast in a "bad play" is a humorous take on how "traumatic" it is to put on a performance and all the lessons we learn in doing so. The cast is made up of 20 cast and 4 crew that have worked very hard to "pull this turkey together".
There will be free public performances on Sunday, November 10 at 2:30pm in the HS Auditorium. We invite everyone to come have a good laugh at how crazy the world of theatre actually is behind the scenes. Contest will be on November 20, and we will perform at about 4pm. However, this will be on a rolling schedule, so get there early!

Olney NHS and STUCO Host Annual Carter Blood Drive on November 13th
|
Olney High School’s National Honor Society (NHS) and Student Council (STUCO) are teaming up to host their annual Carter Blood Drive on November 13th. This important event provides an opportunity for students and staff to give back to the community by donating blood, potentially saving lives across Texas.
Students aged 16 and older are eligible to donate, and organizers encourage everyone to consider making a lifesaving contribution. Every donation can have a significant impact, helping to ensure that blood is available for those in need, especially in critical situations.
To schedule a donation, please use the provided link to sign up. Your donation can make a real difference, and as a community, we can support our neighbors and fellow Texans in their time of need. When Texans donate blood with @CarterBloodCare, we are all helping to save lives.
Schedule your donation today and join us in this meaningful effort. #GiveForTexans

Olney Lady Cubs Volleyball Team Competes Strong in Playoffs
|
The Olney Lady Cubs volleyball team had an exciting and successful run in the playoffs this year. In a crucial play-in game for a chance to advance to the bi-district match, the Lady Cubs faced off against the Petrolia Lady Pirates. The team showed outstanding teamwork and determination, sweeping the Lady Pirates in three straight sets (3-0) to secure their spot in the bi-district competition.
The Lady Cubs then traveled to Vernon to compete against the Quanah Lady Maidens in the bi-district match. Despite giving their all on the court, the Lady Cubs were unable to bring home the trophy, falling in three sets to the Lady Maidens.
Although their playoff journey ended in Vernon, the Lady Cubs' strong performance throughout the season and in the postseason is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship. Congratulations to the Lady Cubs for an incredible season, and we look forward to seeing what they will accomplish next year!
