Bullying Abuse & Harassment
Bullying, Abuse and Harassment
Bullying, harassment, and intimidation are serious offenses and will not be tolerated in our schools. In fact, Olney ISD policies prohibit such activities. Bullying occurs when a student or group of students engage in written or verbal expression, expression through electronic means, or physical conduct that:
- Will have the effect of physically harming a student, damaging a student's property, or placing a student in reasonable fear of harm to the student's person or of damage to the student's property; or.
- Is sufficiently severe, persistent, or pervasive that the action or threat creates an intimidating, threatening, or abusive educational environment for a student.
The conduct is considered bullying if it:
- Exploits an imbalance of power between the student perpetrator and the student victim through written or verbal expression or physical conduct; and
- Interferes with a student's education or substantially disrupts the operation of a school.
The form below is used to report alleged harassment and intimidation (bullying) that occurred on school property, at a school-sponsored activity/event on or off of school property, on a bus, on the way to and/or from school, in the current school year.
If you are a student victim, the parent/guardian of a student victim, or a close adult relative of a student victim, or a school staff member and wish to report an incident of alleged bullying, harassment, or intimidation, the FIRST action is to TELL a TEACHER, PRINCIPAL, COUNSELOR, or SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER.
Contact the school for additional information or assistance at any time. Reports of bullying should be made as soon as possible after the alleged act or knowledge of the alleged act. A failure to promptly report may impair the District’s ability to investigate and address the prohibited conduct.
This form may also be used to report bullying, harassment and intimidation anonymously.
All of the following list of offenses should be reported to a teacher, Principal, Counselor, or School Resource Officer immediately. These reports will be taken seriously and investigated fully. While these can also be reported anonymously, please seriously consider talking directly to one of the persons listed above.
