2024 Wichita Falls Symphony League Scholarship Competition

Two Olney High School Band students auditioned for scholarship awards
in the annual Wichita Falls Symphony League Scholarship Competition held
Saturday, April 13 at the Midwestern State University Fine Arts Building.
Junior Lily Thames, an oboist, received third place in the Woodwinds-Brass-
Percussion Division of the competition. She received a certificate and a $300
award.

Bassoonist and freshman Maddox Johnson received an Honorable Mention
award in the same division.

Awards were also given for students in the Vocal, Strings, and Piano Divisions.
First-place winners will perform at the WFSL luncheon in May in Wichita Falls.
Mrs. Karen Bacus, WFSL Scholarship Competition Chair, presented the
awards.

Band directors Dr. Rodney Bennett and Mrs. Marilyn Bennett attended the
event, and Mrs. Laura Pease accompanied both students on piano.
